If you’ve updated your PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11, you may have noticed that when you click on a link for a website, a PDF document, or a variety of other file types, you will now be sent to Microsoft’s Edge browser. In its new version of Windows, Microsoft seems to have become especially aggressive in pushing its own apps over the apps that had been installed as defaults before the upgrade. In other words, Edge suddenly became your default browser.

How Do I Make Chrome the Default Browser on Windows 11
Click on the start bar (located on the taskbar and visible as four windows). Alternatively, click on the start bar and type "Settings” on the search bar, then hit enter.
- A window containing applications and settings will pop up.
- Click on Settings.
- Under Settings, select "Apps".
- On the menu that comes up, select "Default Apps."
- Scroll downwards to Google Chrome in the list of apps and press it. Alternatively, you can write "Google Chrome" in the search bar and click on it once it comes up.
- In the page menu that appears, click on the "Set default" button located at the top right corner of the page.
Set Firefox as the Default Web Browser for Windows 11
The Mozilla Firefox browser can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store, after which you will install it and follow a few steps to make it your default web browser.
- Click on the start bar (located on the taskbar and visible as four windows). Alternatively, click on the start bar and type "Settings" in the search bar, then hit enter. A window containing applications and settings will pop up.
- Click on Settings.
- Under Settings, select "Apps".
- On the menu that comes up, select "Default Apps".
- Scroll downwards to "Mozilla Firefox" on the list of apps and press it. Alternatively, you can write "Mozilla Firefox" on the search bar and click on it once it comes up.
- On the page menu that appears, click on the "Set default" button located at the top right corner of the page.
Note that you can set Firefox as your default web browser with one click if you download it outside of the Microsoft Store.
